Using a chip clip on the hand acupressure point

Tip from Woman & Home on womanandhome.com. · Read the original post

One person found that placing a kitchen chip clip on the webbed space between their thumb and index finger cut their migraine pain in half within twenty minutes. This spot corresponds to the LI4 acupressure point, commonly used in pressure therapies. While the original approach used a chip clip, similar pressure can be applied with standard household clips or simply by using your opposite hand's fingers.

What you'll need

You only need one of these — not all of them.

The original tip uses

Kitchen chip clip

or

Clothes peg or binder clip

Your fingers — no tool needed

Good to know

Keep the pressure firm but comfortable, cushion the clip, and remove it after a few minutes or sooner if your hand tingles or changes colour. If your skin feels unusually sensitive during an attack, use your fingers instead. Avoid this point during pregnancy.
